Australian oil and gas company Beetaloo Energy and US energy services provider Halliburton have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a gas power plant and data center in Australia’s Northern Territory.

As part of the agreement, Halliburton will provide technical expertise to assess and develop gas resources for Beetaloo Digital, a report from Reuters said.
Beetaloo Digital was launched earlier this month and is expected to be the primary developer of a dedicated natural gas power solution for a proposed data center located on a 185-hectare site at Weddell, close to Darwin.
Halliburton is expected to provide expertise in field development, drilling, project execution and scalable gas-fired power generation. The Weddell project is expected to be based on gas resources in the Beetaloo Basin. The development of the project is predicated on the success of concept studies, partner agreements, financing, and regulatory approvals.
