German engine manufacturer Innio has secured an order to supply approximately 1.1GW of gas engine capacity to an unnamed developer and operator of large-scale data center campuses in the US market.

The Munich-based company said the deal, booked in Q2, is among the largest in its history. It has not named the customer for confidentiality reasons, but more than 200 Innio Jenbacher J624 engines are expected to be deployed, providing behind-the-meter prime power generation across sites in the US. Deliveries of the engines are scheduled in phases.

The Jenbacher J624 is Innio's high-speed gas engine aimed at data center operators, offering containerized, fast-deployment options intended to suit demanding AI load profiles. The engine has a capacity of 4.5MW and is the largest of its Type 6 group.
