Toshiyuki Yanagisawa, the new President and CEO of Honda Cars India, effective October 1

Honda Cars India (HCIL), on Thursday, said it has appointed Toshiyuki Yanagisawa as the new President and CEO, effective October 1, replacing Takashi Nakajima who is moving to regional headquarters in Asian Honda Motor Co, after completing his India tenure.Yanagisawa, Operating Executive of Honda, is currently heading India Strategic Development Office and is also the CEO of Honda Digital Innovation India (HDII). In his new role, he will jointly lead HCIL and HDII, the company said.Honda has positioned North America, Japan and India as priority markets for its future growth strategy. The India Strategic Development Office has been working to develop India-focused strategies and execution plans to support the expansion of Honda’s business in the growing Indian market.The initiatives related to the India-focused strategic vehicle planned for launch in 2028 have now entered the execution phase. Yanagisawa, among his previous global assignments, has also worked in India at HCIL and possesses a strong understanding of India’s automotive market, its consumers and the business environment, the company added.Published on July 30, 2026
