Alleged Chattogram gangster Mobarak Hossain Emon, better known as David Emon, was trying to cross the border into India illegally when he was arrested in Jashore with three associates, police have said.
Jashore Superintendent of Police Syed Rafiqul Islam told bdnews24.com on Wednesday that officers acted on intelligence that Emon was travelling towards the border district in a private vehicle.
"We launched an operation around 3:30am near Narail-Jashore highway’s Jhumjhum area and arrested him along with three associates."
The others arrested were Mohammad Shamim, Mohammad Safayet Hossain and Alvi Islam Alip.
The four were handed over to Chattogram police around 10am on Wednesday, the police chief said.
