Vedanta Aluminium Metal Ltd (VAML) on Thursday reported a threefold jump in consolidated profit after tax to ₹6,597 crore for the June quarter of FY27, driven by increased volumes and realisations.The company posted a PAT of ₹2,162 crore in the year-ago period. Total revenue from operations rose 45.9 per cent to ₹21,393 crore, VAML said in a filing to BSE.Vedanta group’s four demerged entities — Vedanta Aluminium Metal, Vedanta Power, Vedanta Oil and Gas and Vedanta Iron and Steel — made their stock market debut on June 15.This marks the first quarterly earnings report of VAML since its listing following the demerger of Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta.The VAML board has approved the first interim dividend of ₹8 per equity share for financial year 2026-27 amounting to approximately ₹3,128.55 crore.“We have commenced our new, independent chapter with robust operational and financial performance in this quarter, reflecting the success of our approach which merges business resilience, disciplined execution, and a long-term vision.“In an increasingly dynamic geopolitical environment, our strategic focus on resource security, operational integration, and value-added products continues to strengthen our competitive position while enhancing our ability to deliver sustainable growth,” company’s Whole-Time Director & CEO Rajesh Kumar said.VAML is the country’s leading producer of aluminium, catering to discerning customers in over 60 countries.The company operates a 5 million tonne per annum (MTPA) capacity alumina refinery in Lanjigarh, Odisha since 2007 and an associated 155 MW captive power plant.The refinery feeds its large aluminium smelters at Jharsuguda, in Odisha, and BALCO, in Chhattisgarh. It operates the world’s largest aluminium plant at Jharsuguda. The plant has an aluminium smelting capacity of 1.85 MTPA and an associated 3615 MW thermal power generation facility.The board has approved the execution of definitive agreements with Serentica Renewable India to integrate 150 MW round-the-clock battery energy storage system (with 95 per cent assured supply) by utilising the existing 600 MW solar power delivery agreement.The proposed project will enable conversion of the existing solar power arrangement into a round-the-clock renewable power solution, thereby ensuring reliable renewable power supply during non-solar hours and supporting the company’s renewable energy transition, decarbonisation roadmap, and regulatory compliance requirements.“As part of the group captive structure, the company proposes to infuse ₹165 crore representing 26 per cent investment in the project,” it said.Published on July 30, 2026
