Property investment in the Cape Town central business district (CBD) surged by 41% during 2025/26 compared with the previous year.
The State of Cape Town Central City Report 2025, published this week by the Cape Town Central City Improvement District (CCID), says the value of current property developments, conservatively estimated, increased from R9-billion in 2024/25, to R12.8-billion in 2025/26, driven by strong investor confidence.
The CCID is largely made up of commercial and residential property owners.
The 29 developments in the property pipeline – completed, under construction, planned or proposed – are spread over the CCID’s 1.74 km² footprint in the heart of the CBD.
“Ground-breaking developments changing the CBD’s skyline include a clutch of innovative and ambitious commerical and mixed-use billion-rand properties,” says the CCID report.
