DJI has rolled out a new firmware update for the Mini 5 Pro, and while it isn’t packed with flashy new features, it’s still one you’ll want to install before your next flight.
Small updates like this signal that DJI is continuing to polish what is already one of the company’s most capable compact drones. If you already own a Mini 5 Pro, the update process is straightforward. Just make sure you’re running DJI Fly v1.21.4 or later, since the latest firmware requires the updated app.
DJI also notes that camera settings will be reset after installation, so it’s worth checking your preferred resolution, frame rate, color profile, and exposure settings before taking off again. If the update fails, simply restart the aircraft, controller, and DJI Fly app and try again.
The firmware itself may be modest, but the drone certainly isn’t.
The Mini 5 Pro packs features that, until recently, were reserved for much larger and more expensive drones. Its biggest upgrade is a 50MP 1-inch CMOS sensor paired with an f/1.8 aperture, giving creators noticeably better low-light performance and richer image quality than previous Mini models. It also records up to 4K/120fps video and supports 10-bit color for users who like to grade their footage later.
