Construction of the Sh30 million mausoleum for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has officially begun at the Kang'o ka Jaramogi ancestral home in Bondo, Siaya County, following the formal handover of the site to government engineers.
Photos seen by TNX Africa show excavation works already underway, with heavy machinery clearing the site and workers laying the foundation.
Construction teams were also seen positioning pre-assembled steel reinforcement cages inside deep trenches as work on the structure gathers pace.
The new mausoleum will stand about eight metres from the existing Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum, with the two memorials connected by a landscaped pedestrian walkway.
