The United States government has announced plans to permanently discontinue routine visa processing services at its Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, and 24 other diplomatic missions across Africa as part of a major restructuring of its consular operations.
The policy, which takes effect on August 1, 2027, is part of the administration of President Donald Trump’s plan to overhaul visa-processing operations across Africa by reducing the number of missions handling routine visa applications from nearly 50 locations to 20 designated regional hubs.
