According to the company, the new charging system features a 1.2 MW main unit and supports flexible power cabinet configurations, allowing total output to be expanded to 2.4 MW and beyond. A single charging connector can deliver a peak current of 1,500 A across a voltage range of 150 to 1,000 volts, while overall system efficiency is rated at at least 96.7 per cent.
Dongfeng says the charger is “among the industry’s first batch of Level 1 energy-efficiency high-power charging products” under China’s new GB 46519-2025 national efficiency standard.
The company has also begun developing a next-generation ultra-fast charger with integrated energy storage. Dongfeng plans to establish a charging product portfolio ranging from 720 kW to 2.4 MW, designed to serve both passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
The 1,500 kW output matches the peak charging power of BYD’s second-generation Flash Charger, which the company unveiled in March alongside the second generation of its Blade Battery. At the time, BYD described it as the world’s most powerful mass-produced single-gun charging system. The charging infrastructure was introduced to support the new Blade Battery, which can recharge from 10 to 70 per cent state of charge in around five minutes under suitable conditions. As reported, BYD also announced plans to deploy 20,000 Flash Charging stations across China by the end of 2026.
