Ohanaeze Youth Council Lambasts South-East Governors Over Absence At Aguiyi-Ironsi’s 60th Memorial Anniversary

Igboayaka identified the governors of Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu and Anambra states, namely Hope Uzodimma, Francis Nwifuru, Peter Mbah and Charles Soludo, as those absent from the event.

The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has berated the governors of Nigeria's South-East states over their absence from the 60th memorial anniversary of Nigeria's former military Head of State of Igbo extraction, the late Maj. Gen. Johnson Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi, accusing the governors of neglecting issues of historical and cultural importance to the Igbo people.

In a press statement made available to SaharaReporters on Wednesday, to commemorate the anniversary, the National President of the OYC, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, described the governors' absence as evidence of their "nonchalant attitude" towards matters affecting Igbo people.

"The southeast governors have continued to display a nonchalant attitude towards issues affecting Ndigbo," Igboayaka said.

“It is disheartening that they failed to attend the 60th memorial anniversary of the first Nigerian indigenous Major General and first indigenous military Head of State of Igbo extraction.”
