Qatar has sent its first LNG shipment through the Strait of Hormuz since one of its tankers was attacked in the waterway three weeks ago.

The tanker Al Areesh is bound for Pakistan, which had mediated peace talks between the US and Iran and expected Qatari supplies to resume.

More than a dozen tankers are idling near Ras Laffan, suggesting QatarEnergy may be preparing to resume broader LNG deliveries through the strait.

A resumption in deliveries could allow QatarEnergy to increase production at the world's largest LNG plant, paused following the July 7 attack.
