Police were called to the crash at Raynes Rd and Ohaupo Rd about 6.45am.
The accident, on State Highway 5, was reported to emergency services around 6.20pm.
One person was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital after the crash.
The Serious Crash Unit closed the road for several hours to examine the scene.
The collision happened on a rural stretch between Tukairangi and Oruanui Rds in Wairakei
Okaeria Rd remains closed as crews clear the crash scene.
