Sir, – I was struck by the size of the “public park” in the description of Ronan Group’s development plans for the current Citigroup offices at the IFSC in Dublin (“Johnny Ronan’s firm lodges alternative plans for landmark IFSC site following appeal setback,” Business, July 25th). The 31,000sq m of office space plus two hotels will provide 244sq m of space for a public park. But how big does a space have to be to be called a public park? A tennis court is 260sq m. Fingal County Council guidance indicates that pocket parks range from 500sq m to 0.2 hectares. “These small spots fit into tight urban spaces to offer a bench, small patch of green or mini play area,” it says.I can’t wait to see what facilities the Ronan Group will provide in their “public park”. – Yours, etc,DARA LYNOTT,Mulgannon,Wexford.
