Adeyemi Adeniyi, the self-styled director-general of the fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), failed to show up before a House of Representatives ad-hoc committee on Wednesday, creating an impediment in the ongoing probe.

Olatunji Disu, the Inspector-General of Police, who had been tasked with delivering the suspect to lawmakers, was represented at the hearing by a senior delegation led by Olufemi Akinola, a Deputy Commissioner of Police and Deputy Director at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre, alongside Bashir Abdullahi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

Addressing the committee, Akinola explained that the suspect is currently being detained pursuant to a valid order of the Federal High Court, adding that the police could only comply with the committee’s directive after obtaining the appropriate court authorisation.

“We are here to convey the confidence of the Inspector General of Police.

“The Nigeria Police Force may not be able to produce the suspect as requested in view of the subsisting warrant.”
