Canada’s largest convention hall was jammed on Wednesday as hundreds of applicants filled the Enercare Centre in Toronto, vying for positions at the Canadian National Exhibition’s annual job fair.
Nearly 50,000 people had already applied online for 5,000 available jobs at this summer’s CNE, said CEO Mark Holland. At the job fair — scheduled to go from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., but which closed 30 minutes early after all the positions had been filled — 700 available entry-level positions in sanitation, food and amusement services had people snaking through the venue’s second floor.
