Search teams were deployed in an area near Deerfoot Trail in the city’s northeast and the body was located.“It is believed Parker entered into a deep culvert on the west side of Deerfoot Trail where he travelled into a network of pipes that crossed under Deerfoot Trail,” said McLellan. “His body was found in a small pipe on the east side of Deerfoot Trail . . . The Calgary Fire Department required specialized equipment to enter the tunnel system, as the conditions were extremely unsafe.”McLellan noted that “Behind every search map, every briefing, every tip and every hour spent looking was a little boy who was deeply loved by his family.“Today, we grieve alongside them and share in the profound sadness of this loss. Our thoughts are with Parker’s family, loved ones, friends and everyone who has been affected by this tragedy.” Calgary police and search and rescue continue to search for Parker in Calgary on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Darren Makowichuk/PostmediaCPS said in a news release that it extended its sincere gratitude to the thousands of community members, volunteers, partner agencies and members of the media who assisted in the search effort: “The compassion, dedication and support shown throughout this investigation have been extraordinary.”At this time, there is no evidence that criminality was involved in Parker’s disappearance, CPS said. The news release went on to note that search operations are complex and are influenced by factors “including terrain, vegetation, weather conditions, visibility and the information available to investigators at the time. While search teams worked extensively and thoroughly throughout this investigation, it is not always possible to completely eliminate every possibility within a broad-scale search area.“We recognize there may be questions about the circumstances of this case and the investigation remains ongoing to answer as many remaining questions as we can for Parker’s family,” police said in the release. The search for Parker, who had autism, overtook the city of Calgary since he went missing 13 days ago. More than 1,000 people from CPS and partner agencies had searched for Parker, with thousands more ordinary Calgarians also taking to streets, alleys and parks in hopes of finding the boy.New information on the possible whereabouts of a missing 11-year-old boy prompted search and rescue teams to focus efforts in northeast Calgary on Wednesday, nearly two weeks after he first went missing.Parker was last seen in his day home in the 0 to 100 block of Connaught Drive N.W. on July 16. Calgary police and search and rescue continue to search for Parker in Calgary on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Darren Makowichuk/PostmediaAn additional area between Beaver Dam Business Park and Deerfoot Trail northeast was identified as a space that needed a more thorough search, Calgary police said in an update earlier in the afternoon on Wednesday.Resources were deployed in the area, and the public was asked to avoid the area while search teams examinef it.Calgary police were continuing to follow evidence, information, and leads after making an announcement on Monday that they were scaling back the physical search.More to come . . .Catch up with the day’s headlines, curated by our editors and delivered to your email inbox at lunchtime on every business day.
