July 29 (Asia Today) -- South Korean battery materials producer L&F said Wednesday it signed a mid- to long-term agreement to supply lithium iron phosphate cathode materials to U.S. battery technology company Coreshell Technologies.
The agreement will expand the use of L&F's lithium iron phosphate products beyond energy storage systems into electric mobility and defense applications, the company said.
The companies aim to establish a battery supply chain that excludes Chinese minerals and components as the United States strengthens sourcing, national security and country-of-origin requirements for batteries.
L&F said its non-Chinese cathode material supply network can meet U.S. regulatory requirements covering strategic and defense-related industries.
