Soldiers from the Lasar’s Group strike drone unit of the National Guard of Ukraine have shot down a Russian ZALA Z-20 reconnaissance drone at an altitude of 6,400 meters, setting one of the highest successful drone interception records.
According to Ukrinform, National Guard Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko announced the achievement on Facebook and shared footage of the combat operation.
Pivnenko said that in late July, in southern Ukraine, an interceptor drone crew detected a Russian ZALA Z-20 UAV designed for aerial reconnaissance and target detection at distances of more than 100 kilometers.
Attempting to evade interception, the Russian drone climbed to an altitude of 6,400 meters. However, the Ukrainian pilot pursued and destroyed the target, Pivnenko said.
According to him, the achievement demonstrates the high level of training of National Guard personnel and the effectiveness of employing modern unmanned systems.
