NEW YORK, July 29 (UPI) -- Lucky show-runners Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas said they were drawn to the new action-drama because of the dysfunctional parent-child dynamic at the heart of it.
With new episodes airing Wednesdays on Apple TV, the adaptation of Marissa Stapley's bestselling novel follows the titular con woman (The Queen's Gambit's Anya Taylor-Joy) as she is forced to go on the run after her partner betrays her.
Outer Banks actor Drew Starkey play's Lucky's husband Cary and Dutton Ranch star Annette Bening portrays Cary's ruthless mobster mother Priscilla.
Playing Lucky's grifter dad John -- the criminal who raised Lucky to read the room, trust no one and take no shortcuts -- is Justified and Deadwood icon Timothy Olyphant.
