Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies have recently shown substantial promise as treatments for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and certain other autoimmune rheumatologic conditions.Whether this treatment may cause problems in pregnancy is unknown, and this is a particular concern given that women of childbearing age are a major SLE population.This study of 14 pregnancies occurring after CAR T-cell therapy was initiated for autoimmune diseases, including eight with SLE, found no adverse pregnancy outcomes that could be attributed to the treatment.
