July 29 (UPI) -- Some packages of bacon imported from Canada were recalled after they missed an import inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced.
Maple Leaf Foods, of Lisle, Ill., recalled about 12,036 pounds of uncooked smoked bacon that was "imported from Canada without the benefit of import reinspection into the United States," a press release from the USDA's Food Safety Inspection Service said.
The refrigerated smoked bacon product was produced June 9, 10, 12, 13 and 15. It was distributed to grocery outlet distributors in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. There have been no reports of illness or injury.
The issue was discovered during a routine FSIS inspection, the press release said.
