July 29 (UPI) -- Police in California "got in a pony pursuit" when a small Shetland pond was spotted running loose on a road in a San Jose neighborhood.
The San Jose Police Department said on social media that officers were dispatched recently on a report of a diminutive equine on the loose in a residential area.
"Thanks to the horsepower of our patrol cars, responding officers were able to locate the little pony trotting around in a neighborhood," the post said.
Police were able to contact the pony's owner and return it home safely. The owner said the animal had escaped the previous night.
"We are glad this little adventure seeker is back home safe and done hoofin' around," officials wrote.
