APAC data center firm AirTrunk has secured $2.3 billion in funding for the company’s JHB2 campus in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

JHB2, which was announced in February 2025, is estimated to provide more than 270MW of capacity. It will be built on 520 hectares of land formerly part of an industrial park called the Southern Industrial and Logistics Cluster, alongside JHB1, a 50MW data center currently expanding to offer more than 150MW of capacity.

The loan was backed by 30 local and international financial institutions and was led by ten global coordinators, including BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, DBS, ING, Mizuho, MUFG, Société Générale, the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, HSBC, and United Overseas Bank Limited.

AirTrunk said the loan was made in accordance with its Green Bond Principles, which set out environmental standards for the data center project.

The International Finance Corporation’s $175 million investment into AirTrunk, announced last week, constitutes part of the $2.3bn in funding.
