In an attempt to connect young minds with the rich world of books and literature, the district administration, in collaboration with the P.N. Panicker Foundation and the General Education Department, is launching a novel project titled ‘Tharangam – Ezhuthum Vayanayum’ . Designed to revive the joy of reading, the programme will feature book reviews, panel discussions, and literary exchanges held on the first Saturday of every month in the evening at the city’s V-Park.The initiative aims to cultivate a vibrant literary culture among the youth by bringing together renowned authors, students, and teachers on a single platform. Members of school book clubs will be invited to take part in these monthly gatherings. Students will get an exclusive opportunity to interact directly with celebrated writers, discuss various literary works, and share their own perspectives and reviews of the books they have read. Officials said that this initiative will offer students a fertile ground for creative discussions and breathe fresh energy into the city’s cultural landscape.The official inauguration of ‘Tharangam’ is scheduled for August 1 at 4.45 p.m.. Former Chief Secretary, acclaimed poet, lyricist, and Devaswom Board chairperson K. Jayakumar will inaugurate the event, with District Collector Annie Jula Thomas presiding over the ceremony.During the launch event, publisher K.G. Ajith Kumar will introduce K. Jayakumar’s book, Vayalar - Ganarachanayile Gandharvam, to the audience. According to organisers, the project will help break down barriers between young readers and established authors, turning routine discussions into inspiring exchanges.School authorities across the district will be informed about the sessions in advance so that they can plan to integrate book club activities directly into the monthly schedules.
