The Beatles’ 1965 album Rubber Soul is to receive a major new deluxe reissue, featuring newly remixed audio and unheard recordings including a previously unheard John Lennon song outline14:27, 29 Jul 2026Updated 14:49, 29 Jul 2026A special edition of The Beatles’ album Rubber Soul is to be released, featuring previously unreleased session recordings and home demos - including an unheard John Lennon song outline.‌Across the Super Deluxe collections, fans can hear 24 early session recordings, including 20 previously unreleased takes and three unreleased home demos - among them early versions of Day Tripper and We Can Work It Out, as well as Little Girl, an unheard track penned by Lennon.‌Lennon plotted the song on the back of a postcard George Harrison received from a fan in Japan, with a few lyrics from the draft being heard in the demo tape.‌The Super Deluxe editions are accompanied by an 88-page hardbound book featuring a new introduction from Paul McCartney and a foreword compliled from Lennon's own words, along with rare photographs. Originally released in December 1965, the new edition will be released on October 2.‌Rubber Soul is regarded by some fans as the best Beatles album and a pivotal moment in their evolution. The record bridged the gap between early Beatlemania rock 'n' roll and the band's later experiemental psychedelic sound. With tracks including Norwegian Wood and In My Life, The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson said Rubber Soul inspired him to write Pet Sounds, which in turn inspired Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.Recorded over four weeks during October and November 1965 shortly after the band’s record-breaking concert to more than 55,000 fans at Shea Stadium in New York, Rubber Soul also features songs including Drive My Car, Nowhere Man, Michelle, and Girl.The album was recorded at a time when the band had rare time away from concert, radio or film commitments, which their agency said allowed their “music, ideas and unbridled creative ambitions to truly flourish”. All of the new Rubber Soul formats feature the album’s new stereo mix, sourced directly from the original four-track master tapes. The reissue also brings together all 14 new stereo mixes for the first time. The Beatles have previously shared special editions of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club, The White Album, Abbey Road, Let It Be and Revolver. The four piece band from Liverpool went on to become the best-selling music act of all time, with estimated sales of more than 600 million units worldwide and hold the record for the most singles sold in the UK with 21.9 million.
