Wongama Mbombo was employed as a senior correctional officer and head of the Emergency Support Team (EST) at Pollsmoor Correctional Centre.

A senior correctional officer who allegedly paid R1 000 into the bank account of alleged underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack's co-accused, failed in his bid to get his job back after the Western Cape Labour Court affirmed that his dismissal was fair.

At the time he was fired in 2019, Wongama Mbombo was employed as a senior correctional officer and head of the Emergency Support Team (EST) at Pollsmoor Correctional Centre.

Mbombo, who maintained his innocence during internal disciplinary proceedings, faced three charges.

In charges one and two, he was accused of making two payments of R500 each to Janick Adonis’s bank account on October 6, 2018, and November 1, 2018.
