MANILA, Philippines — Spokespersons for the prosecution panel in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte believe that the testimony of the two former Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank) officials bolstered the claims of Ramil Madriaga, the vice president supposed former aide.
In a press briefing after the impeachment trial on Wednesday, Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong said that the statements of LandBank branch managers Violeta Constantino and Nenita Camposano gave credence to Madriaga’s affidavit, which was discussed during the April 14 hearing of the House of Representatives’ committee on justice.
In that April 14 hearing, Madriaga claimed he was tasked by Duterte to deliver four large bags containing the P125 million confidential funds (CF) last December 20, 2022.
During the trial before the Senate impeachment court, Constantino said that the Office of the Vice President (OVP) personnel withdrew the cash on December 20, and placed the P125 million in four large gym bags.
