MANILA, Philippines — The income-tax reform proposed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in his fifth State of the Nation Address (Sona) will allow Filipino workers to keep more of what they earn and help drive consumer spending and economic growth.
Rep. Romero “Miro” Quimbo, who chairs the Committee on Ways and Means, shared this assessment on Tuesday during a news conference at the House.
“So effectively, our workers will take home a much higher take-home pay,” Quimbo said in a mix of English and Filipino.
