CITY OF MALOLOS – A member of the Bulacan Provincial Board has been suspended for a month after a female colleague accused him of sexual harassment during a public gathering last year.
Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 629-2026, which was approved on July 16 by two-thirds of the board, ordered the suspension of Efren Bartolome Jr., who represents the lone district of the City of San Jose del Monte.
The resolution was based on the findings of the committee on ethics and privileges chaired by Board Member and lawyer Erlene Luz Dela Cruz which called for the body to penalize Bartolome for disorderly behavior and conduct unbecoming because of an act of sexual harassment he allegedly committed against another board member.
Dela Cruz acted on the ethics complaint of a female board member who detailed the supposed sexual assault in a May 21 privilege speech she delivered during a regular session.
