The DJ, whose real name was Vincent Belorge, was best known for his electropop music and for performing at the 2024 Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony.‌His cause of death has not been announced, but police did confirm that initial investigations ruled out the chance of any foul play.‌The Paris prosecutor’s office said: “An inquiry into the cause of death has been opened to determine the circumstances of the death, as first responders found no suspicious elements at the scene.”‌French newspaper Le Figaro reported Kavinsky had been complaining of headaches for several days before his death, and that police suspected he may have had a stroke. The outlet also reported that police sources said that a neighbour was worried about not seeing the artist and then alerted emergency services.The DJ was born in Seine-Saint-Denis, just outside of the city of Paris, launched his career in the early 2000s. He briefly worked as an actor before turning to music and appeared in Quentin Dupieux's short film Nonfilm (2001) and feature film Steak (2007). He also had a later cameo appearance in the French film Banger.‌The DJ received mainstream recognition after his song Nightcall was featured in the 2011 film Drive. Two years later he released his debut studio album, OutRun.The star was also known for other songs including Cameo, Outsider, and Renegade. He was praised as a pioneer in the French electropop genre and toured with Daft Punk and The Rapture during his career peak.‌His last released a song in 2024 following the Paris Olympics when he played Nightcall alongside Phoenix and Angèle at the 2024 Summer Olympics. The trio then released a re-recording of the hit which reached number 3 on the French singles chart.In 2025, the Irish rock band Inhaler then released an acoustic guitar cover of the song for Triple J’s Like A Version.Several people have spoken out to pay tribute to the late star.
