Four women accuse Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct when they were teenagers ahead of the release of a new BBC documentary11:50, 29 Jul 2026Updated 11:50, 29 Jul 2026Four women have accused singer and actor Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct, over alleged offences that took place when they were teenagers.The women speak out in new BBC documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret, as they open up about their alleged experiences with the 30 Seconds To Mars lead singer.In the documentary, one woman claims she was 17 when she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom by Leto. Another alleges she was threatened with sexual assault when she was alone in a hotel room with him at age 19.Another claimed she was 17 when she had under-age sex with him in California (where the age of consent is 18). A fourth woman alleged she was groomed by Leto, describing his sexually explicit phone calls to her when she was 16. The woman claimed that on at least one occasion, he suggested they should have sex. She alleged she was asked to sign an NDA, seen by the BBC, but she refused.A total of 10 women have spoken to the BBC for the documentary, some making allegations about incidents that took place when they were as young as 14, between 2002 and 2016.Speaking about the time between the incidents taking place and telling their story, one of his alleged victims claimed: "This was 25 years ago… he has gotten away with it."A couple of men who worked with Leto's band alleged that Leto would occasionally invite teenage girls backstage or to his dressing room, sometimes to his house where he was recording. One commented: "I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big."Jared Leto, 54, is also an actor, winning the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 2014 for his role in Dallas Buyers Club. He also famously played the Joker in Suicide Squad, and made headlines for his choice to method act the role. He's since appeared in Masters of the Universe and Morbius.In 2025 Leto denied allegations of sexual misconduct after multiple accusations from several women.An investigation by Air Mail magazine - a luxury lifestyle outlet edited by former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter - has claimed nine women have accused the star of "behaving inappropriately" when they were in their teens.Leto is currently single, but was once engaged to actress Cameron Diaz - who he was in a relationship with from 1999 until 2003. They were engaged in 2000 until their split three years later.
