French DJ Kavinsky was found dead at his Paris home on Tuesday evening, the Paris prosecutor's office said on Wednesday 29 July. Aged 50, Vincent Belorgey, his real name, was one of the leading figures of the French touch, the house music movement, notably alongside Daft Punk, Justice, Cassius and DJ Mehdi.
The prosecutor's office said that "an investigation to establish the causes of death" had been opened, noting that no suspect was found at the scene on Tuesday evening.
"France has lost one of its most distinctive voices", culture minister Catherine Pégard said in a message on social network X. "Both danceable and nostalgic, his music will go on crossing generations and borders."
