A meeting between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concluded on Tuesday at the White House after approximately an hour and a half. According to the White House, Netanyahu departed the premises at 12:25 p.m. local time.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described Trump’s meeting with Netanyahu, as well as his earlier meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as “positive and constructive.” A White House official told CNN that Netanyahu and Trump were expected to discuss the war in Iran, progress in negotiations with Lebanon, and efforts to expand the Abraham Accords.
Following the conclusion of the talks, Netanyahu described the meeting as “excellent,” adding that it was one of their best discussions to date.
Speaking in a video message before attending a memorial service for the late US Senator Lindsey Graham, Netanyahu stated:
“This meeting was held with complete cooperation, mutual support, and a shared understanding of a single goal: ensuring that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons, alongside other joint objectives.” He added: “This was one of the best conversations I have had with our friend, US President Donald Trump.”
