Zelenskyy says he had ‘positive talks’ with Trump | Al Bawaba

ALBAWABA - Ukraine President Zelenskyy had a meeting with U.S. President Trump at the White House where he hailed he had ‘good talks’ with the U.S. President ‘maybe the best ever.’On the agenda were licenses for Ukraine to produce patriot air-defense interceptors and to search for ways to revive negotiations with Russia, who has been invading Ukraine for more than the duration of the First World War."Thank you for everything we do together to protect the lives of Ukrainians and advance peace," Zelenskyy said after the meeting with Trump which lasted for just over an hour. Adding that he was grateful for Washington’s “firm support”."The President and I discussed licenses for Patriot interceptor production and several other ideas that could help," he added. "We also spoke about diplomacy - it's important that the diplomatic process be reinvigorated," he said.After June was recorded as being the deadliest month for Ukraine since the start of the war, Zelenskyy is prioritizing cutting losses and potentially ending the war by reviving negotiations with Russia.🇺🇦🇪🇺🇺🇸 Zelensky:"We want to stop this war. Zelenskyy offered his condolences and said the senator was “a true friend of Ukraine”.While Trump ended Biden-era weapon deliveries to Ukraine, he remained a major ally, supplying the struggling nation with intelligence and access to the Starlink satellite system used for battleground communications.Relations between the two leaders have come a long way since their 2025 oval office altercation where Trump told Zelenskyy he’s “gambling with World War III”.In this latest meeting, Trump said Zelenskyy was doing “an amazing job” - offering him licenses to produce the highly sought after Patriot missiles for air defense.
