August is not going to be a holiday month for the socialist PASOK party.
Opinion polls continue to place PASOK third, behind the ruling New Democracy and Alexis Tsipras’ Greek Left Alliance (ELAS) party, and PASOK officials are keen to see their poll results improve.
The next wave of opinion polls, at the end of August, may be too early for a major change; but PASOK’s leadership is looking forward to the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), early in September, for help.
PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis and his aides believe that, contrary to ELAS, they have the better alternative policies to New Democracy’s.
And, as the official parliamentary opposition, Thessaloniki provides a platform equal to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ to present their program, on the fair’s second weekend.
