The Federal Communications Commission's latest restrictions target emerging Chinese technologies that U.S. officials say could threaten America's AI infrastructure, critical supply chains and cybersecurity.
FCC Moves to Protect US AI Infrastructure On Tuesday, the Donald Trump administration unveiled sweeping restrictions on new Chinese-made humanoid robots, quadruped robots and connected power inverters, citing concerns that the devices could jeopardize U.S. national security.
The FCC said the measures, which took effect immediately, apply to new models that have not yet been authorized for sale in the U.S.
The agency retains the authority to revoke approvals for previously authorized products.
"These devices could create supply chain vulnerabilities that could disrupt U.S. economic and national security and could create a cybersecurity risk that [threatens] American critical infrastructure," the FCC said in a statement.
