LONDON: Officials from the Syrian Arab Republic and Egypt discussed enhancing relations through the Syrian-Egyptian Business Council to strengthen business partnerships and cooperation between companies in both countries.
Syrian Economy and Industry Minister Nidal Al-Shaar met Egyptian Chargé d’Affaires Mohamed el-Feki in Damascus on Tuesday to discuss improving economic cooperation and investment between the two countries. Discussions emphasized collaboration in industrial and economic sectors, and bilateral trade between the private sectors. Business leaders and officials are discussing a proposal to establish an integrated industrial zone in Aleppo Governorate, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency.
In May, Asaad Al-Shaibani became the first Syrian Foreign Minister to visit Egypt since the fall of the Bashar Assad regime in December 2024. Syrian officials have recovered the country’s relations with its neighbors and the international community following years of isolation under the Assad regime. They have emphasized investments, security cooperation, regional stability and engagement with international bodies.
