Only 27% of US hospitals can run an EEG. Epitel raised $26m.

Epitel has raised $26m in a Series B round to expand a wireless EEG system that patients wear at home.

Catalyst Health Ventures and Genoa Ventures co-led the round. The Salt Lake City company says it will spend the money on sales, marketing and distribution rather than research.

The gap it is aiming at

One number behind the pitch is unusually solid, because it comes from a peer-reviewed paper rather than a market forecast.

Only 27% of US hospitals have EEG capacity, according to a 2023 study in Neurology: Clinical Practice. Epitel says 9.2 million Americans experience seizures each year, and that 40% lack access to EEG.
