Meta’s AI momentum is dominating feed-based advertising, but Google’s cautious approach to intent-based search could win the future.

Analysts project Meta will surpass Google in global digital advertising revenue and market share this year for the first time. The forecast reflects how effectively Meta turns AI into advertising performance, particularly inside feed-based environments where discovery, entertainment and commerce converge.
The leaderboard captures a clear story: Meta is winning the feed-based internet. Its recommendation models are highly optimized, advertisers are adopting its automated campaign products and the platform consistently converts attention into measurable outcomes.
Still, focusing solely on this headline risks mistaking a mature section of the market for the entire industry. Feed-based advertising is well established and, in many respects, ready for AI, whereas AI search is still taking shape. These environments operate on different commercial logic, and that distinction may matter more than the rankings suggest.
