When the I Wanna Dance With Somebody star toured the world with trunks of elaborate custom-made designer costumes, she didn't travel light.Now fur coats, rehearsal bomber jackets, vanity cases, leather luggage, perfume, jewellery and even her stage stool, tea set and gold plated social security card, are being auctioned to raise funds for US youth programmes through the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation. Pat Houston, executor of Whitney Houston's estate, said: "We have some super great one-of-a-kind memorabilia from Whitney's archives and we are excited about the auction."Whitney began her stratospheric career by signing to Arista Records at the tender age of 19. Her first studio albums, Whitney Houston, in 1985, and Whitney, in 1987, topped the Billboard 200 for 14 and 11 weeks respectively. The former remains the best selling debut album by a solo artist, while the latter made her the first woman to debut at the top of the US and UK charts.‌And fans after something to remember her by will be spoilt for choice at the auction - although they will need deep their pockets to be very deep.Treasures include an embellished jacket from her 1988 Moment of Truth tour, a black Burberry coat from her 2009-2010 Nothing But Love world tour and a scarlet figure-hugging Versace leather suit, worn at the VH1 Divas concert in April 1999 at the Beacon Theatre in New York. Her gold plated social security card has a guide price of $700 (£500).Whitney died on February 11 2012, aged 48, from an accidental drowning, complicated by heart disease and cocaine use. She was found unconscious in a bathtub in her suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. But her legacy lives on, as seen by another coveted auction lot - the platinum award presented to Whitney to commemorate the sale of more than nine million copies of her 1987 single I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me) . It has a guide price of $5,000 (£3,700). The hit went on to sell 18 million copies.Meanwhile, for a guide price of $7,000 (£5,200) fans could buy her three-piece MCM monogrammed luggage and get a taste of what it felt like to travel like Whitney. Or, for less than half the price, they could purchase a long black coat with matching pants by Carolina Herrera, which she wore on stage for an HBO television special, Classic Whitney.
