SportHorse racingGlorious GoodwoodThe in-form tipster hopes to continue his run of winning selections on day two of Glorious Goodwood when he has three tips including Ban Royale in the openerSteve Jones17:00, 28 Jul 2026Make it pay with Bay on day two of Glorious Goodwood. BAY ROYALE (1.50) has shown heaps of promise in three novice and maiden races. He now makes his handicap debut and he looks to have been handed an attractive weight.‌It’s hard to understand how he is priced up at much bigger odds than both Hatteen and Infraad, considering he was much too good for both rivals on his return to action at Nottingham in May.‌He couldn’t quite follow up under a penalty when runner-up – again at Nottingham – but he bumped into smart prospect Knights Charge and the front pair were well clear of the rest.‌A two-month break since that run should have done him some good and Harry Eustace’s well-bred three-year-old should enjoy the step up to 1m4f for the first time. Have 1pt each-way at 10-1.ARDUIS INVICTA (5.00) is fairly unexposed over 6f and this speed-favouring course should play to her strengths. She was placed at Listed level as a juvenile last autumn and she has been holding her form this season.‌After finishing runner-up over 5f at Musselburgh, she put in another decent performance, despite finding herself short of room at a crucial stage, when fourth at York last month. She looks capable of going close. Have 1pt each-way at 40-1. A few bookies are paying out on six places.DEFENCE MINISTER (5.40) hasn’t had much luck with the draw in two starts since making a winning return on Kempton’s all-weather track in March. He had little chance racing out of stall one on the far side in the Victoria Cup at Ascot in May in a race dominated by horses that raced towards the stands’ side.Article continues belowIt was a similar story in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot when he used up a lot of energy to cross towards the favoured nearside from another unhelpful stall. He didn’t have the greatest draw in the race 12 months ago but it didn’t stop him finishing an excellent fourth in a race where the form worked out really well. This year’s race doesn’t look as strong and, although the luck of the draw has deserted him once again, it’s not impossible to get a decent early position from his stall 13. If he does finally get the rub of the green, he should be very competitive. Have 1pt each-way at 25-1. Most firms are offering five places.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌Glorious GoodwoodRoyal AscotValue ScopeSteve JonesRoyal FamilyGoodwood racecourse
