The alleged terrorism case remains unresolved.
A court in Košice, eastern Slovakia, ruled last week that Tajik national Amriddin Kholmurodov continues to pose a threat to Slovakia’s national security, based on suspicions by the Slovak Information Service (SIS), one of the intelligence agencies, that he has links to terrorism.
The Administrative Court in Košice reached the conclusion while once again reviewing his application for asylum and subsidiary protection.
Kholmurodov travelled to the court in Košice alone from the other side of the country. From the accommodation centre in Rohovce in south-west Slovakia, where he is allowed to move freely, he first took a bus to Bratislava. There, he changed to a train to Košice and then returned the same way. The entire journey was legal and took place with the assistance of the Migration Office.
The current situation is that, despite the alleged security threat, the authorities cannot detain Kholmurodov, and he cannot be deported. He has denied allegations of cooperation with terrorists from the outset. He says he is merely a civil activist who opposes the authoritarian regime in Tajikistan.
