Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the United States is aimed primarily at paying tribute to Senator Lindsey Graham, as well as deepening cooperation with the United States in the defense sector, particularly on drones, and strengthening Ukraine's air defense system.
Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanishyna said this in a comment to Ukrinform.
"This visit is, first and foremost, an opportunity to pay tribute to Senator Lindsey Graham, a great friend of Ukraine who worked tirelessly to strengthen the U.S.-Ukraine partnership and global security, while also seeking to ensure that Russia pays a higher price for its aggression," the diplomat said.
According to her, Ukraine believes that the adoption of Lindsey Graham's act on sanctions against Russia and Iran would be "the most fitting tribute to Senator Graham's legacy."
"He consistently argued that the Kremlin's ability to wage war depends on the resources at its disposal, and depriving Russia of those resources remains essential to bringing about a just and lasting peace," Stefanishyna said.
