Dragoni made her senior Italy debut in 2023 Simone Arveda/Getty ImagesJuly 28, 2026 11:17 am EDT Updated Chelsea are set to sign versatile attacker Giulia Dragoni from Barcelona.The 19-year-old spent last season on loan to Serie A side Roma from the Spanish champions, making 29 appearances in total while scoring eight goals and providing four assists.Following the expiration of her loan, Dragoni is expected to join the eight-time Women’s Super League winners Chelsea.Dragoni would become Chelsea’s fifth signing of the summer, joining forward Melvine Malard from Manchester United, midfielder Manaka Matsukubo from North Carolina Courage, left-sided defender Nelly Las from Leicester City and former Arsenal defender Katie McCabe on a free transfer.
Dragoni’s signing would bolster Chelsea’s forward line and midfield options ahead of a crucial season as Sonia Bompastor’s side bid to reclaim its WSL title. Chelsea failed to win the title for the first time in seven seasons last term following Manchester City’s triumph.The versatile attacker can play on both wings and throughout midfield. She has made 24 appearances for the Italy national team since her debut in March 2023, aged 16, and was part of her country’s squad at the 2023 World Cup.Since signing for Barcelona from Inter in 2023, Dragoni has made ten appearances, scoring one goal.Dragoni signed a three-year contract extension with Barcelona in June 2024, before being sent on her first loan spell to Roma, during which she scored four goals and provided one assist across 27 appearances.In 2024, Dragoni became the first Italian player to win the Women’s Champions League, doing so with Barcelona. She also claimed the Italian Golden Girl award, honouring the best Italian player under 21 years old.
