To address South Africa's pressing socio-economic challenges, the Walter and Albertina Sisulu Foundation for Social Justice has joined hands with the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) to host the 2nd Annual Memorial Lecture on Walter Sisulu.
Scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, 2026, the high-profile gathering aims to explore the deep intersection between ethical leadership and intellectual human development within the country's social justice framework.
The formal partnership, cemented through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), focuses on cultivating an ethical leadership model grounded in the defining traits of Walter Sisulu’s legacy: infinite courage, infinite hope, and an unwavering commitment to selfless service.
Under the poignant theme “Stolen Tomorrows,” Mphumzi Mdekazi, CEO of the foundation said this year's lecture takes aim at the systemic issues crippling the nation's youth, directly confronting the corrosive factors that threaten South Africa’s constitutional democracy and rob young citizens of a promising future.
