EXCLUSIVE — The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee mobilized nearly 1,000 volunteers to knock roughly 40,000 doors last weekend as part of a grassroots initiative to mark 100 days before the midterm elections, according to figures shared first with the Washington Examiner. The DCCC’s organizing program, dubbed a “weekend of action,” tripled turnout from the committee’s June program, according to the DCCC, and focused on eight of the most competitive districts in the country.
“Our ability to strategically energize and mobilize voters across the country will be key to House Democrats flipping the majority,” DCCC Spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre said in a statement. “The hundreds of volunteers, shifts, and tens of thousands of doors knocked this past weekend all prove one thing: voters across the battlefield are ready to elect House Democrats in November.”
Six of the districts are labeled by the nonpartisan Cook Political Report as a “toss-up”—New York’s 17th District, Ohio’s 9th District, New Jersey’s 7th District, Colorado’s 8th District, Pennsylvania’s 8th District, and Washington’s 3rd District. Four of these seats are currently held by a Republican.Organizers knock doors for Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA). (DCCC)
