The former JPMorgan banker who accused a co-worker of making him her “sex slave” last spring has filed a new suit in federal court, naming three additional colleagues he alleges violated his civil rights.
After asking a judge to dismiss his state suit in July, Chirayu Rana and his new team of lawyers filed a federal complaint on Monday, claiming that in addition to allegedly being sexually assaulted by executive director Lorna Hajdini — who Rana claims told him, “If you don’t f–k me soon, I’m going to ruin you … Never forget, I f–king own you” — he was subject to widespread racism by others on his team at the bank.
In the new suit, Rana claims he was told by colleagues that he was hired for diversity reasons and, per The Wall Street Journal, “repeated previous accusations suggesting that Hajdini told him the bank favored people who look like its chief executive, Jamie Dimon, and wanted to keep the firm white and Christian.” The suit also alleges that Rana’s Nepalese background “became the punchline for a stream of degrading jokes,” including racist taunts like “monkey” and “brown boy.” (In the new complaint, JPMorgan managing directors Brandon Graffeo and Jon Wolter and associate Kelly Crowe are added as defendants.)
