India's portfolio management services (PMS) industry recorded a sharp jump in net inflows to ₹3,54,755 crore in June 2026, recovering from ₹4,085 crore in May, driven by discretionary mandates.The improved flow momentum helped lift the industry's assets under management (AUM) by 1.8 per cent, or about ₹77,700 crore, to ₹43.27 lakh crore at the end of June from ₹42.49 lakh crore in May. AUM growth also accelerated from 0.5 per cent in May to 1.8 per cent in June.Client growthThe industry's client base grew 4 per cent during the month to around 2.20 lakh accounts, reflecting continued investor participation, according to the latest data released by the Association of Portfolio Managers in India (APMI).The discretionary segment continued to anchor industry growth during the month. Equity assets increased 1.4 per cent, plain debt assets rose 1.2 per cent, while mutual fund allocations jumped 14.6 per cent, as investors continued to diversify in investment portfolios.Domestic investors continued to dominate the industry, accounting for 91 per cent of the client base and 95 per cent of total AUM. Domestic AUM expanded 1.9 per cent during the month, while foreign AUM moderated marginally by 0.2 per cent. PF/EPFO assets continued to account for nearly 79 per cent of domestic AUM.“India's wealth management landscape is undergoing a structural shift as investors increasingly seek customised, professionally managed investment solutions aligned with their long-term financial goals. The steady expansion in both assets and investor participation reflects growing confidence in the PMS ecosystem," said Sushant Bhansali, Vice-chairman of APMI.Outflows also rose to ₹3.69 lakh crore in June from ₹21,629 crore in May, but remained well below the increase in gross inflows, resulting in a sharp rebound in net inflows.The industry's distribution network also expanded, with 781 individual and 123 non-individual distributors added during the month, taking the cumulative distributor base to 20,424 and 2,963, respectively.Published on July 28, 2026
