Former Justice Department chief Terresa Sindane has told the TRC Cases Inquiry chaired by Justice Sisi Khampepe that cases during her tenure at the department.

Former Director-General of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, Terresa Sindane, has clarified her role during her tenure from 2010 to 2016.

Sindane stated that she has never engaged directly with TRC cases, outlining the administrative nature of her responsibilities.

Sindane testified before the TRC Cases Inquiry on Tuesday morning, where she asserted: "I was never in any meeting with the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPPs) and ministers of Justice, where the prosecutions of specific TRC cases were discussed.

"The Director-General of the Justice Department cannot direct or instruct the NDPP to prosecute anyone, including in the TRC cases."
